===================================================================== ==> In this proposal, more time is being requested for MCASALI.BDHALO ===================================================================== We have discovered excess 5-8.5 micron emission well above the plane of the edge-on galaxy NGC5907 in the CAM project BDHALO. The data have only just been reduced and it is still unclear what kind of objects are causing the emission. However, the strength of the emission combined with the ratio of I-band to LW2 flux points to extremely cool stars rather than brown dwarfs. We ask for more time to extend this study to another two edge-on galaxies, NGC5714 and NGC5529. The project has fundamental implications for studies of dark matter and galactic structure.
